Self-Care and Universal Health Coverage

Self-care can improve health outcomes, increased access to healthcare services, stronger health systems, and reduced healthcare costs. Most critically, the benefits of self-care can help governments achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC). There are a variety of challenges as well as opportunities that come with this. July 2023. WHO released the Self-care competency framework is published in three parts: a knowledge guide, geared at health and care workers; a curriculum guide for use by those involved in planning and delivering education and training of health and care workers; and competency standards.
